Long Call calculator
Buy a call. Max loss is the premium; profit grows without limit above strike plus premium. The cleanest bullish bet, and the most exposed to time decay. Type your own strikes and premiums below; the example starts from a $100 reference price.
Example at $100: net debit $300, max profit unlimited, max loss $300, breakeven $103.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you calculate long call profit?
- At expiration each leg is worth its intrinsic value; add the legs, subtract what you paid (or add what you collected), times 100 shares per contract. For the example structure at a $100 reference price the net debit is $300, max profit unlimited, max loss $300, breakeven $103.
- What is the breakeven on a long call?
- The settlement price where the position's P/L is zero. The calculator solves each segment of the payoff exactly rather than sampling, so the breakeven it shows is the true one for the strikes and premiums you type.
- Does the calculator use live prices?
- No: you type premiums, so it works for any ticker and any quote source. To price the same structure from the live chain and rank it against every other play, run the ticker in the OptionScout scanner.
